I’ve Proved Nothing Is Impossible: Bhavina On Paralympics Semis Win

Mumbai: India’s para-table tennis player Bhavina Patel said that “nothing is impossible” after beating China’s Zhang Miao 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8 in her Class 4 semi-final at Tokyo Paralympics

Bhavina continued her dream run at the ongoing Tokyo Games on Saturday as she defeated Zhang Miao of China 3-2 in a Class 4 match to reach the final.

“If I keep performing like this, I will definitely win a gold medal,” she said. I never thought of reaching the finals and just focused on giving my 100 per cent and that’s what I did,” said Bhavna.

“And when you give your 100 per cent you can win a medal. I am mentally ready for the final and I just want to give my 100 per cent,” she said.

Bhavina created history by becoming the first Indian to enter the finals of the table tennis event of the Paralympic Games.

Bhavina said, “It is a big achievement because I have defeated a Chinese player, everyone says it is impossible to beat a Chinese player but I have proved that nothing is impossible. If you want to So everything is possible.”

“I would like to thank PCI, SAI, Association of Blind People and TOPS because of their support, I have reached here,” she said.

The Indian paddler had a poor start and Zhang won the first game 11-7. The Chinese paddler took five straight points in the first essay to move on. After this, Bhawna won the second game 11-7 to level the match at 1-1.

In the second game, Bhavina took the lead with a score of 8-6 and won the second game 11-7. She then came under full fire and started the third game on a high as she took a 5-0 lead in the essay.

She then wrapped the game 11-4 to move closer to the finals. In the next game, Zhang came back strongly and won by 11-9 and took the match into the decider. But Bhavina held her nerves to finish the game off in style.
