Kings XI Punjab Released Key Players Like Andrew Tye, David Miller, Sam Curran

Mumbai: Kings XI Punjab has released some key players like David Miller, Andrew Tye, Sam Curran, Moises Henriques. KXIP is the team that earlier shows the promise but at the end finishes in bottom 4. They have released captain Ashwin and most probably they will make KL Rahul as the next captain.

Varun Chakravarthy who was bought for 8.4 crores has also been released.

Anil Kumble is the new head coach of KXIP. Among the retained players is West Indian great and 40-year-old Chris Gayle, who was bought by KXIP at his base price of Rs two core ahead of the 2018 IPL after going unsold twice.

“There is no way we could have let him go. He is a champion player,” said Wadia.

Apart from the 2014 season when KXIP topped the league table and finished runners-up, the team has made only one other playoffs appearance in 11 seasons.

Released: Ashwin, Varun Chakravarthy, Andrew Tye, Sam Curran, Simran Singh, David Miller, Moises Henriques, and Agnivesh Ayachi.

Retained: KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Mohammed Shami, Nicholas Pooran, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Chris Gayle, Mandeep Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Hardus Viljoen, Darshan Nalkande, Sarfaraz Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, Murugan Ashwin, Jagdeesha Suchith and Krishnappa Gowtham.
