K’taka Govt Falls As Congress-JD(S) Alliance Fails To Prove Majority

Mumbai: Congress-JD(S) alliance government in Karnataka failed to prove majority in the Assembly during the floor test on Tuesday. The Congress-JD(S) alliance received 99 votes against the BJP’s 105. This comes after the Supreme Court said rebel MLAs can’t be forced to attend the trust vote.

D Kumaraswamy got 99 votes losing the trust vote on Tuesday with 105 votings against the government.

The Kumaraswamy government is out after 14 months as the Congress-JD(S) coalition lost the trust vote.
Kumaraswamy called it an “unfortunate event”.

BJP Karnataka took to Twitter and wrote, “It’s the victory of people of Karnataka. It’s the end of an era of corrupt & unholy alliance. We promise stable & able governance to the people of Karnataka. Together we will make Karnataka prosperous again.”

“It is a victory of democracy. People were fed up with the Kumaraswamy government. I want to assure people of Karnataka that a new era of development will start now,” says Leader of Opposition BS Yeddyurappa and adds, “We assure the farmers that we will give more importance to them in the coming days. We will take an appropriate decision at the soonest.”

BJP supporters celebrated at party’s state office in Bengaluru after HD Kumaraswamy-led Congress-JD(S) coalition government lost the trust vote in the assembly.
