Lawyer Of Convicts Delaying Justice By Misguiding The Court: Nirbhaya’s Mother

Mumbai: Following the delay in Nirbhaya case justice, Asha Devi mother of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim-blamed the convicts’ lawyer AP Singh for trying to delay the justice by misguiding the court.

“The lawyer’s lawyer has nothing now. He is misleading the court to delay justice. Not Vinay Singh, it is he who needs rest. Vinay is absolutely fine… he is mentally stable,” she said while speaking to ANI in New Delhi.

The Patiala House Court on Monday, hearing a plea by the state and Nirbhaya’s parents, issued a fresh death warrant against the four convicts.

Earlier, on 5 February, the Delhi High Court gave the four convicts a week to take advantage of all the legal remedies available and held that the convicts could not be hanged separately as they were convicted of the same crime.

The case relates to the brutal gang rape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedical student in a bus on the night of 16 December 2012 by six people including a teenager in Delhi. The woman died a few days later in a hospital in Singapore.

One of the five adults accused, Ram Singh, had allegedly committed suicide in the Tihar Jail during the trial of the case.
