Left Afghanistan To Avoid Bloodshed: Ghani As Taliban Enter Presidential Palace

Kabul: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has said he left the country to avoid “bloodshed” as Kabul fell to the Taliban and terrorists entered the Presidential Palace.

In a post on his Facebook page, Ghani said he was faced with a difficult decision, putting the fate of millions of Kabul residents and the city’s safety at stake after a 20-year war that has already killed countless people. Is. Were.

“To avoid bloodshed, I thought it would be better to leave,” he said in his first remarks after leaving Rashtrapati Bhavan and leaving the country.

He said the Taliban insurgents, who later broke into the presidential palace in Kabul, are now facing a historic test.

“The Taliban won the sword and gun verdict and it is their responsibility to protect the honour, prosperity and self-respect of our compatriots,” he said.

He did not reveal the details of his current location. News channel Al Jazeera, citing a personal bodyguard of the president, said that Ghani, his wife, his chief of staff and national security adviser had gone to Tashkent in neighbouring Uzbekistan.
