Maha BJP Leader Offers To Fund Speakers To Counter Azaan With Hanuman Chalisa

Mumbai: Maharashtra BJP leader Mohit Kamboj has offered to fund speakers to counter Azaan with Hanuman Chalisa. “Anyone who needs a loudspeaker…can ask us for free!” he said.

Kamboj, a billionaire bullion trader and among the richest BJP leaders, said in a tweet:

“Anyone who needs a loudspeaker to install it in a temple can ask us for free! All Hindus should have one voice! Jai Shri Ram! Har Har Mahadev!” Also Read: MNS Muslim Leader Resigns, Accuses Party Of Turning ‘Communal’

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Raj Thackeray on Saturday, April 2 urged the Maharashtra government to remove loudspeakers from mosques and said if it was not done, he would play Hanuman Chalisa on the speakers.

A day later, MNS leader Mahendra Bhanushali was briefly detained by the Mumbai Police for playing Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers without the necessary permission.

The campaign comes just ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, which could strengthen the Hindutva stance of the MNS and the BJP in contrast to the recent soft Hindutva of the Shiv Sena.

Raj Thackeray, who had broken away from Sena in 2005 after a rift with now Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has maintained the hard-line position against loudspeakers used in mosques.
