Maharashtra Extends Current COVID-19 Restrictions Till 7 am On June 1

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has extended the current COVID-19 restrictions till 7 am on June 1 to effectively break the chain of coronavirus transmission.

The decision to continue the coronavirus restrictions was taken after a cabinet meeting of ministers on Wednesday. The lockdown was scheduled to end on May 15 at 7 am.

New guidelines

Those entering Maharashtra by any mode of transport must submit a negative RTPCR test report, which must be issued for a maximum of 48 hours before entering the state.

Milk collection, transportation and processing may be permitted without restrictions, although its retail sales will be subject to restrictions on shops dealing with essential goods or home delivery.

The Local District Management Authority (DMA) should keep a special watch on rural markets and APMC and ensure Covid Appropriate Behaviour and if it finds any such place as difficult to manage and discipline to ensure non-spread of Covid epidemic, local DMA may decide on a case by case basis to shut these Or may impose further restrictions.

Personnel engaged in airport and port services and travel in local, mono and metro services will be permitted for movement of cargo related to medicines or equipment required for covid management.

The Local District Management Authority (DMA) may decide to impose further restrictions, generally or in specific sectors or specific areas, with the SDMA notifying it and at least 48 hours of public notice before such further sanctions are implemented.

In the case of cargo carriers, no more than two people (driver + cleaner/helper) may be allowed to travel. If these cargo carriers are originating from outside the state, they may be allowed to enter the state with a negative RTPR test, which will be issued a maximum of 48 hours before the time of entry into Maharashtra and which will be valid 7.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Maharashtra reported 46,781 new COVID-19 cases, and 816 deaths, the health department said. The caseload increased to 52,26,710, while the death toll reached 78,007, it said. The state now has 5,46,129 active cases.

As many as 58,805 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 46,00,196. Meanwhile, the active number of COVID cases in Maharashtra stands at 5,46,129. With the new fatalities, the COVID death toll in Maharashtra has mounted to 78,007
