Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer Are Some Key Players Released By Royal Challengers Bangalore

Mumbai: As RCB had a bad last season as they ended up on last at the points table, RCB has decided to remove 12 players. As Mike Hesson, RCB team director said, they are building a core team that could help RCB winning the matches.

Among the big names released by RCB is Caribbean power hitter Shimron Hetmyer, who was bought last year itself. Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis to has received the boot along with compatriot Nathan Coulter-Nile and Dale Steyn. Kiwi all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme and paceman Tim Southee to have been offloaded by the Virat Kohli-led franchise.

The other players to have been released are Akshdeep Nath, Himmat Singh, Prayas Ray Barman, Kulwant Khejroliya, Milind Kumar, Heinrich Klaasen.

RCB has not been the successful team in the IPL tournament they haven’t won a season yet. But letting go Marcus Stoinis is the big blow for fans as being an all-rounder he has proved match-winner in some matches in IPL 2019. With releasing Tim Southee, Coulternile, Dale Steyn RCB would look to have a good overseas fast bowler maybe Mitchell Starc/Cummins/Wood.

The franchise has made big changes in the coaching staff as well, bringing in Hesson and Simon Katich in place of Gary Kirsten.

RCB is one of the original eight teams in the IPL, the team has made three final appearances in the IPL, losing all (in 2009 to the Deccan Chargers, in 2011 to the Chennai Super Kings and in 2016 to the Sunrisers Hyderabad).

The team also finished runners-up in the 2011 CLT20, losing the final against the Mumbai Indians.
