Mayawati Pitches For Pan-India Law to Curb Mob Lynching, Says Centre’s Approach Is ‘Bhayanak Bimari’

Mumbai: While exercising strict all-India legislation to curb the mobility, Mayawati on Saturday attacked the Bharatiya Janata-led Center on a trenchant assault saying that its approach towards this “dreadful disease” is “lackadaisical”.

The BSP Supremo said, “Mob lynching has emerged as a terrible disease across the country, and the loss of life in it is a serious concern.”

“In this regard, there is a strong need for a stringent countrywide law, but the Centre’s approach towards it is lackadaisical,” she added.

He also said that violence related to mob violence does not only affect one community but the entire society.

“This disease is a gift of the government’s intention which does not allow the rule of law to be established. As a result, not only the Dalits, tribals or religious minorities, but also people of all sections of the society and the police are also being victimized, “Mayawati said.

In a suggestion to the BJP on the mob lynching, Mayawati said that it was not enough to just draft the new laws.

“The BJP will have to develop strong willpower like the BSP, to strictly enforce the laws. Only then will this disease will be curbed.”

Taking cognizance of the incidents of molestation by the crowd of cows, the Uttar Pradesh Law Commission presented a draft bill to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday, which recommends life imprisonment for the crime.
