Misuse Of Patriotism In The Country: Modi

Mumbai: People should be more cautious as patriotism and nationalist feelings are being abused in the country PM Narendra Modi said while addressing a rally here.

He alleged that political parties who did not recognize the sacrifices made by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and other freedom fighters are now questioning the bravery of the Armed Forces – the context of air strikes in Pakistan’s Balakot.

“The country is watching a strange tendency of misuse of patriotism and nationalist sentiments, West Bengal is the land where the national song Vande Mataram was made, it is the land of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, but here the song was wrong for the service of the vote bank,” Modi said at an election rally here.

He said, “Mamata Banerjee is also a part of this group. People of Bengal will not miss the support of those who are opposing our country.”

The Prime Minister said that the people of the country should be cautious of such forces who think of “hundred times” before slogans in favour of the motherland to fulfil the objectives of their vote bank politics.

“They (the political parties) are speaking in the same tune as Pakistan and are questioning the (Balakot) air strikes,” he said.

He claimed that BJP honoured the contribution and sacrifices of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the Indian National Army. Modi said that political parties including Trinamool Congress have never honoured their contribution, they are raising questions on the bravery of the Armed Forces.

Syndicate in West Bengal means a business which is supposedly enjoying political politicians by individuals who compels builders and contractors to buy building materials, which is often of high quality.

“In the trade unions and syndicates, hooliganism has forced the closure of jute industries,” Modi added.
