Mumbai: Beaches Shut, Police To Be Deployed Outside Such Micro-Containment Zones

Mumbai: As the capital of Maharashtra continues again under the enhancement of COVID-19, authorities on Friday issued new guidelines for Mumbai.

As per Mumbai’s new COVID-19 guidelines, all the beaches in the city will remain closed till 30 April.

In addition, private laboratories have been asked to ensure a 24-hour time to declare the COVID-19 test results.

The report of COVID-19 tests will be submitted to the civic bodies first.

Hospitals have been asked to use rapid antigen tests only for symptomatic patients.

When more than five coronavirus positive cases come from a building, it will be declared a micro-contribution zone. Police will be deployed outside such micro-containment zones to ensure any COVID-19 protocol.

On Thursday, Mumbai reported 8,938 new COVID-19 cases, with a budgeted figure of 4,91,698. According to the updated figures of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the death toll has risen to 11,874.

Mumbai recorded 10,428 new COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths on Wednesday and 10,030 infections and 31 deaths on Tuesday.

The BMC said that the COVID-19 recovery rate in the financial capital has dipped to 80 per cent, and the overall infection growth rate has risen to 2.03 per cent.

Presently, Mumbai has 71 active containment zones, in slums and chawls, and 750 sealed buildings.
