Mumbai: In the early hours of Tuesday a 10-year-boy and his father were killed while his mother escaped with minor injuries in a landslide. The landslide took place along the hill slopes at Atkoneshwar Nagar in Kalwa.
As per the prior information by the regional disaster management officials at Thane, in the midnight huge chunks of soil and other boulders from the hills fell on the house of Birendra Gautam. The locals reported to the police about the incident. Rescue officials along with the team rushed to the spot and managed to save the family members and rushed them to the nearest hospital.
Birendra Gautam and his 10-year son- Sunny were declared dead by doctors. His wife Gudiya was receiving medical treatment in hospital, said Santosh Kadam of RDMC, Thane. To avoid other such incidents, the Municipal administration is evacuating nearby settlements.
