Nation May Remember The Period As ‘Deceptive Blessing’ If Cleanliness Of Hands Changes After This Pandemic: Harsh Vardan

Mumbai: As the country is in the grip of a coronovirus epidemic, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Tuesday that the government will have to do a balancing act in relation to people’s health and economy.

Vardhan reiterated that the country is capable of protecting itself from slipping into the community broadcast of COVID-19.

The Union Health Minister said that after the coronovirus pandemic, the behavioural change brought about by the global epidemic may be normal for a healthy society. “If the cleanliness of the hand’s changes after the epidemic, the nation may remember the period as a deceptive blessing,” he told PTI.

The minister said, “One after another coronavirus can deceptively look at the nation in the future if Indians observe hand, respiratory and environmental hygiene and practice it in their everyday lives.”

The Union Health Minister urged people to practice at social intervals and wash their hands at regular intervals to stay safe from the deadly virus. Vardhan said, “By now we know that fighting coronavirus is not rocket science. If behavioural changes such as hand, environmental and respiratory hygiene, which are being practised more rigorously during this period, get imbibed in society it will become the new normal.”

Vardhan pointed out that to protect health professionals across the country, India has significantly increased the production of (personal protective equipment) and N-95 masks. The country is also focusing on increasing the production of raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients for pharmaceuticals.

“Thus, this epidemic can be seen as an opportunity to promote indigenous production of such commodities, which reduce the dependence on India on high demand globally due to the epidemic.”

According to the latest figures of the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 46,433 confirmed coronavirus cases so far. 1568 people have lost their lives to the Novel Coronavirus.
