Next Few Days Crucial As Odia Migrants Will be Returning From COVID-19 Affected States: Odisha CM

Mumbai: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on Wednesday that the next few days are going to be very important for the state government’s efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 as Odia migrants return from other coronovirus-affected states.

In a video message, Patnaik said, “Another challenge we have is to look after Odia people returning from West Bengal, as there are a total of 122 positive cases in the state, with the number of corona cases returning from West Bengal being 50. Next few days are very important as more people will return from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Delhi Rajasthan Karnataka and neighbouring West Bengal.”

“The return of Odia people from these most affected states of the country may increase the positive cases in the state, but if people from outside will register and everyone will cooperate with the government here, then the situation in the state will remain under control, ”he said.

Patnaik further said, “Ten days ago there were 61 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state which have now doubled but need not fear. We can prevent this with caution.”

“Initially, we had the challenge of taking care of the Odia people returning from abroad and Odisha was the first state to start registering its citizens in the state. After that taking care of the people who returned from Nizamuddin in Delhi was another challenge for the Government,” he said.

“I requested the people to support the government, and we got the support of the public because we were able to control the situation,” he said.
