No Mid-Term Election Will Form Stable Government In Maharashtra: Sharad Pawar

Mumbai: Amid an ongoing political crisis in Maharashtra, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that there is no chance of ‘mid-term’ elections in the state and a stable government would be formed sooner or later.

Sharad Pawar while addressing a press said, “Since the effort to form a government has been started sooner or later, there is no possibility of a midterm election, but a stable government will be formed.”

Recently, the Congress and the NCP, which fought the assembly polls together, and the Shiv Sena have prepared a draft common minimum program (CMP).

The three parties are in talks to form a non-BJP government in the state, where President’s rule was imposed earlier this week.

The Shiv Sena and the BJP, who contested together, could not form the government due to differences over power-sharing.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party in the state with 105 seats in the 288-member assembly, followed by Shiv Sena 56, NCP 54 and Congress 44.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena, a joint delegation of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress leaders have sought time from Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for a meeting on Saturday to discuss farmers’ issues.

Amid discussions over the formation of government in Maharashtra, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and NCP Chief would meet on Sunday to discuss their next course of action.
