The bus service between the two states has been canceled due to protests in Karnataka and Maharashtra

Mumbai: Following the ongoing dispute between Karnataka and neighboring Maharashtra over the border issue with opposition from both sides, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Monday urged the people of the state to maintain peace ‘not a single land will be given’.

“According to Mahajan Ayog, it is clear what part is to be given for Maharashtra and Karnataka. It is not fair to create such a dispute. I will not give even an inch of land. I request all the people of the border to maintain peace,”Yeddyurappa told media reporters here.

The bus service between the two states has been canceled due to protests in Karnataka and Maharashtra.

On Sunday, Shiv Sena activists staged a protest near the Kolhapur bus stand and burnt effigy of Chief Minister Yeddyurappa. In Belagavi, protesters also burned an effigy of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

For the issue of Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute, the movement was in response after Eknath Shinde and Chhagan Bhujbal were appointed as coordination ministers.

On 7 December, Thackeray chaired a high-level meeting on the border dispute between the two states.

It was decided in the meeting that efforts would be made to have a fast track hearing in the Supreme Court on this issue.
