Not Known If Mumbai Man Died Of Coronavirus, Report Awaited: Health Minister

Today's tally of 126 positive cases includes 22 foreign nationals of the country

Mumbai: Soon reports claimed that 63-year-old man, who was tested positive for coronavirus, died in Mumbai on Monday, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said it is not clear if the pandemic took his life.

The man, who had a travel history of Dubai, was suffering from co-morbid conditions including high blood pressure, pneumonia, and inflammation of the heart muscle and increased heart rate.

Tope said, “He was admitted to Kasturba Hospital on 5 March and had hidden some details from us, including that he came from Dubai. But we became suspicious on 13 March.”

“It is not possible to say right now that the person who died at Kasturba Hospital died of a coronavirus. We are awaiting the report,” he said.

The Ministry of Health announced that Maharashtra had the highest number of confirmed coronavirus patients among 39 out of 126 in the country. Three out of 39 are foreign nationals.
