P Chidambaram’s Custody Extended, To Stay In CBI Custody Till September 2
Mumbai: Former finance minister P Chidambaram’s CBI custody, in connection with the INX media case, extended till September 2.
Earlier in the day, the CBI in an INX Media case in a Delhi court p. A five-day extension was sought for questioning in Chidambaram’s custody. He was produced before Special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar at the end of his 4-day CBI custody.
When the judge asked the CBI why five more days were needed to interrogate Chidambaram, the ASG said that there were voluntary documents.
To this, the judge said, “You were aware of the number of documents, why did you ask for only five days of custody in the first place, the second time you also asked for only five days. Why is this approach.”
The CBI is investigating Chidambaram in the INX Media case, which it had registered on May 15, 2017, alleging irregularities in the FIPB clearance granted to the media group for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during his tenure as Finance Minister.
