PM Launches Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission; Every Citizen To Get Digital Health ID Card

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Under this, a Unique Health ID will be provided to patients with their medical records, which will make treatments easier for them as well as doctors, hospitals, and healthcare providers.

While lauding the digital initiative in the country, PM Modi said, “Today is a very important day. The drive to strengthen the health facilities of the country, in the last 7 years, is entering a new phase today. This is not an ordinary phase. This is an extraordinary phase.”

“Today begins a Mission that has the power to bring a revolutionary change in India’s health facilities. 3 years ago, on Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya’s birth anniversary, Ayushman Bharat Yojana was implemented. Happy that Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission being started nationwide from today,” he added.

Explaining the importance of this digital mission he said, “Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will play a big role in eliminating problems in medical treatment of poor & middle class. Via technology, work done by Ayushman Bharat to connect patients with hospitals across the nation is being further expanded & given strong technology platform.”

He further said that UPI is reaching the common man and India is developing a huge digital infrastructure

“From ‘Rashan to Prashasan’, UPI is reaching the common man…With 118 crore mobile subscribers, about 80 crore internet users & about 43 crores ‘Jan Dhan’ bank accounts, nowhere in the world would you be seeing such a huge digital infrastructure.”

PM Modi also expressed gratitude to all doctors, nurses, a medical staff of the nation. “Be it vaccination or treatment of COVID patients, their efforts gave a huge relief to the nation & helped it in the fight against Corona,” he said.

Modi further in his address, praised CoWin app for helping in the biggest vaccination drive.

“With the free vaccine movement, India has administered about 90 crore vaccine doses, therefore creating a record. Certification has also been issued for the same. CoWin has to be credited as well for this achievement.”

On 15th August 2020, PM had announced the mission (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
