PM Modi Raises Issues Of Terrorism In The Presence Of Pak PM Imran Khan At SCO Summit

Mumbai: Without taking countries to name Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of state-sponsored terrorism at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit (SCO) in Bishkek and said that countries sponsoring, aiding and funding terrorism must be held accountable as he called for a global conference to combat the menace.

Addressing the SCO summit, PM Modi highlighted the spirit of SCO and ideas to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

India stood for a terrorism-free society, he said.

In order to deal with the threat of terrorism, countries need to come out of their narrow scope to unite against it, PM Narendra Modi said in the presence of his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan.

Prime Minister Modi also called SCO member states to cooperate under the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) against terrorism.

PM Narendra Modi called on Chinese President Xi Jinping, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit to further strengthen bilateral relations. However, there was no negotiation between PM Narendra Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
