PM Modi Retains Varanasi Seat By A Margin Of 4.80 lakh

Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi retained his position after defeating his nearest rival Shalini Yadav in the Varanasi Lok Sabha by a margin of about 4.80 lakh votes.

Modi won by winning 4,79,505 votes in Varanasi seat, an EC update on election results said here.

While Prime Minister Modi got 6,74,664 votes, Shalini Yadav got 1,95,159 votes. Congress candidate Ajay Rai secured the third position with 1,52,548 votes.

PM Modi’s vote share was 63.62 per cent against the share of Yadav’s 18.4 per cent and 14.38 per cent for Rai.

There were 26 candidates from Varanasi, but a total of 4,037 voters did not vote for anybody and pressed the NOTA (none of the above) buttons on the EVM.
