Mumbai: President Ram Nath Kovind presented Padma awards to superstar Mohanlal, Musician Shankar Mahadevan, Classical sitar artist Pandit Budhatiya Mukherjee.
After delegated Bharat Ratna, it’s the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, the second, third and fourth highest civilian award in India. Three of them are the categories of designated Padma award
‘It is a great privilege, a great achievement as an individual person and as an actor as well. Being for 41 years in the movie industry, I am dedicating my award to my colleagues, family and tot hose all who supported me for this wonderful journey’, Malayalam actor Mohanlal said to ANI news agency.
The actor who is been five-time national award winners and been in south Indian languages, such as, ‘Vanaprasham’, ‘Bharatham’ and also in Hindi movies ‘Company’, he expressed his feeling while receiving the designated Padma Award.
The complete list of award recipients was announced a while back but they awarded today.
The first citizen of the country, President Kovind consulted the delegated award to all the 56 out of 112 honourable personalities at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
After sustaining the award, Shankar Mahadevan said that now he is feeling more responsible to make much better music in the future.
Mahadevan said, ‘Today is a special day. I have never even thought that I would get an opportunity to get honoured with this award and enter into the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The fourth highest civilian award in India and this medal is very precious to me. I thank all the people who have loved my music. I thank the government. I will see to it that our country’s music get reaches over in the world’.
‘I am a Sitar artist. My joy is immense and deeply honoured with the award. Today is a very auspicious day for me and I will fulfil the expectation that my country puts on me. I will groom more into my own field’, Pandit Buhaditya Mukherjee, an Indian classical sitar artist said while speaking to ANI.
Prabhu Deva, a professional choreographer, actor and maker of the film was honoured by The precious Padma Shri award for his handout in the fields of dance-art.
For contributing in the field of music, Ace Music director Shankar Mahadevan received the designated Padma Shri award.
Manoj Bajpayee has fantastic over the years in the movies like ‘Aligarh’, ‘Bandit Queen’, ‘LoC Kargil’, ‘Tevar’ and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. He was honoured with The Padma Shri award for his phenomenal contribution.
A very experienced actor and vulnerable, Late Kader Khan was conferred with posthumous Padma Shri award. He was deceased on 31st December. Khan has worked in around 300 movies, such as, ‘Dulhe Raja’, ‘Judaai’, ‘Anari’, ‘Coolie no. 1’, ‘Chowk no.11’, ‘Mukti’, ‘Bap number beta das number’, and ‘Himmatwala’and many more. He was known for his comedic acting.
The government this years has got nominations of 50, 000 for Padma awards.
This year recipients of awards contained 4 Padma Vibhushan award, 14 Padma Bhushan award, 94 Padma Shri award. The Padma awards which were declared on 26th January’s eve had comprised 21 women, 11 persons which were foreigners, NRI, OCI, PIO and also one who is Transgender.
