After defeating the world’s no.3 Chen Yu Fei in the match in forty minutes she became the first Indian woman to enter the World Championship third time in a row in women’s singles.

Chen Yu Fei was defeated by 21-7, 21-14 by Sindhu and now Indian player is just one step away from the ultimate honour. Sai Praneeth lost the match in the semi-finals against Kento Momota and will have to return home with a bronze medal.

In the first game, Sindu won against Fei with a huge gap between the two, 21-7. Sindhu’s opponent tried hard to secure some momentum but failed precariously as her Indian counterpart appeared to be strong against her. Even after the break, Fei struggled to keep up with Sindhu.

Sindhu while talking about her win said that she was happy but not satisfied yet and that she definitely wanted gold in the finals. “I am happy but not satisfied yet. There is one more match to go, definitely, I would want to get gold. But it is not easy. I have been playing with both of them. I think anybody is fine, you know anything can happen right. I just need to focus on myself, go back tomorrow and give my best” Sindhu told to the BWF website.
