Rahane, Jadeja And Ishant Ruled Out Of 2nd Test Against NZ Due To Injuries

Virat Kohli will be coming back to the playing XI and leading the team

Mumbai: For the second test match against New Zealand on Friday, India will be without the services of vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, pacer Ishant Sharma and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. “Ajinkya Rahane sustained a minor left hamstring strain while fielding on the final day of the 1st Test match in Kanpur. Since he has not recovered completely, he has been ruled. out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai. His progress will be closely monitored by the BCCI,” Medical Team, BCCI said.

The medical team added, “Fast bowler Ishant Sharma dislocated his left little finger during the final day of the 1st Test match in Kanpur. He is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai. The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor his progress.”

“All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffered a right forearm injury during the 1st Test match in Kanpur. After undergoing scans, he was diagnosed with a swelling on his forearm. He has been advised to rest and is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai,” BCCI stated further.

Virat Kohli will be coming back to the playing XI and leading the team.

Meanwhile, due to the wet outfield, the toss for the second Test match has been delayed. The pitch inspection scheduled at 10:30 am showed a considerably dried pitch, leading the toss at 11:30 am.

The second Test will have just two sessions for the day as the morning session is already wiped out due to a wet pitch. The first session takes place from 12.00 to 2:40. The second and final session takes place from 3:00 to 5:30 IST.
