Rahul Gandhi And Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Slams Modi Government In Support of Chidambaram

Mumbai: On Wednesday the Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra spoke out in support of P. Chidambaram who is facing arrest against the INX media case. Rahul Gandhi had alleged the government that it was misusing the power for character assassination of former Union Minister.

Rahul Gandhi took to twitter to lambast the Modi government for its disgraceful misuse of power. He tweeted, “Modi’s government is using the ED, the CBI and sections of spineless media to character assassinate Mr. Chidambaram. I strongly condemn this disgraceful misuse of power.”

Congress general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra too alleged the Modi government that the former union minister was shamefully hunted down. She tweeted,

“An extremely qualified and respected member of Rajya Sabha, P. Chidambaram Ji has served our nation with loyalty for decades including as Finance minister and the Home minister. He unhesitatingly speaks truth to power and exposes the failure of this government, but the truth is inconvenient to cowards so he is being shamefully hunted down. We stand by him and will continue to fight for the truth no matter what the consequences are.”

After the tweet by the congress leaders, the congress party too wrote on Twitter in support of P. Chidambaram.

“A government that persecutes its citizens for speaking truth to power is only reiterating its own cowardly nature. P. Chidambaram is an extremely qualified and respected leader, he has served this nation with dedication and humility. We stand by his quest for truth no matter what.”

Chidambaram is facing an investigation in a case filed by CBI and ED. The former union minister had applied for a petition demanding anticipatory bail, however, the supreme court rejected his plea that had requested to put his plea will be put up before the Chief Justice for urgent listing.

However, on Tuesday, the Delhi High Court rejected his plea.
