Report: Sri Lankan Top Cop Warns Of Attacks 10 Days Ago

Mumbai: According to media reports, Sri Lankan police chief allegedly raised the voice of alert in the country, 10 days ago, suicide bombers had planned to hit major churches.

According to foreign news agency AFP report police chief Pujuth Jayasundra had sent an intelligence warning to the top officials on April 11, which threatened, “A foreign intelligence agency has reported that NTJ (National Thooth Jam’th) is planning to execute suicide attacks targeting the main churches in Colombo as well as targeting the Indian High Commission.”

Suicide bombers killed at least 156 people and wounded more than 400 after the suicidal attackers killed three luxury hotels and three churches on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka after the bloodiest day of the island.

Officials said that 35 foreigners were dead, but their nationality was not immediately known. No group has taken responsibility for the attack so far.

Christians in Sri Lanka were celebrating Easter Sunday, which is a symbol of the resurrection of Christ and the culmination of a week-long celebration.
