Rohit Sharma Creates World Record For Most T20I Wins In A Row As Captain

Mumbai: India captain Rohit Sharma has created a world record after India defeated England by 50 runs in the first T20I. Rohit has become the first captain in the history of men’s T20I cricket to win 13 matches in a row.

Hardik Pandya’s all-around performance helped India beat England by 50 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. While Hardik was the outright star of the show with 4 wickets and half-centuries, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav also played important roles for India with their cameos.

India has been performing extremely well in the shortest format ever since Rohit took over the reins from Virat Kohli. In the 13 victories that Hitman has won as captain, India has defeated teams like New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and now England.

Actually, as a full-time captain of the Indian team, Rohit has not faced a single defeat in the shortest format. Given that it is the year of the T20 World Cup, these signs of India’s preparation for this showpiece event are incredibly promising.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit heaped praise on the Indian batsmen, while also explaining what he expects from the next.

“You got to make use of those six overs in the powerplay. There is a certain approach we want to take in the powerplay. You got to back yourself in this game, sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t. The whole batting unit needs to understand the direction the team is taking and the guys were spots on today,” he said.
