SC Decides EC’s May 6 Deadline To Decide On Allegations Of Election Code Violation Against Modi-Shah

Mumbai: The Supreme Court has fixed the EC deadline as May 6 so that the decision on nine complaints filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah for allegations of Model Code of Conduct can be decided.

The EC told the bench chaired by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi that he has decided on two of the 11 complaints that the Congress party filed for alleged violation of the model code of conduct against Modi and Shah.

The Congress party has claimed that he has 40 complaints, while the order was given only on 20, which was against other people, not against PM Modi and Amit Shah.

Senior advocate AK Singhvi, appearing for Lok Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, who filed a petition in the apex court on this issue, said that he has given 11 representations to the Election Commission against both of them but it has only decided for two.

A bench of Justice Deepak Gupta and Sanjeev Khanna said that the decision of the remaining candidates of the petitioners will be done by the Election Commission on Monday (May 6) before the hearing again.
