PM Modi Held A High-Level Meeting To Review Preparations For Cyclonic Storm

Mumbai: A high-committee meeting was held in connection with Cyclone Phani coming towards Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. The meeting was chaired by PM Narendra Modi for reviewing preparations for the cyclonic storm.

PM Modi has instructed senior officials of the Central Government to maintain close coordination with the officials of the affected states to ensure preventive measures and take effective steps for relief and rescue operations as required.

Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupta Sethi has asked the Food and Consumer Welfare Department of the state to take active steps to check the hoarding of food and other essential items. Cyclone Fani is expected to make landfall in Odisha between 10 AM and 12 PM on Friday, said SRC spokesperson.

“From April 25, our ships and aircraft are continuously patrolling areas and we are sending weather warnings to fishermen,” Parma, IG Coast Guard East said.

“We have deployed eight rescuers, Vishakhapatnam and Chennai four-four. We have kept two ships in Visakhapatnam and Chennai after the cyclone after the immediate sailing. In Chennai and Visakhapatnam, each Chetak helicopter is ready to give relief, ” he added.
