Facing the public resentment and the opposition’s attack on the issue, the BJP expelled MLA Kuldeep Sengar (accused of Unnao rape) from the party.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court had also directed that the case should be held on a daily basis and it should be completed within 45 days.

The apex court also directed the Uttar Pradesh government to pay Rs 25 lakh as interim compensation to the rape victim.

The Congress had said that the accused of Unnao rape was an admission of the removal of the culprit by the BJP and the culprit was “guilty”, and asked why Modi was silent on the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhaon Gang” case.
