Serena Williams And Caroline Wozniacki Perfect Start To Win The ASB Classic

Mumbai: Just a month prior to her retirement Wozniacki has made a perfect attempt to win the ASB classic aka ATP Auckland Open along with Serena Williams.

The pair won their first double by beating Nao Hibino and Makoto Ninomiya on Monday with a points 6-2 6-4. Before their first double match, Williams and Wozniacki played 11 singles matches against each other.

“That was so much fun. I really enjoyed that, I haven’t played doubles in a long time and to get to play with Serena was amazing,” said Wozniacki after the match.

Williams added: “I was great. It doesn’t seem like she hasn’t played in a long time because she played unbelievably. So, it was really fun.”

They jointly have won 24 Grand Slams and 102 WTA singles. Williams alone has won 23 double titles, including 3 Olympic titles mostly in partnership with her sister Venus.

Caroline Wozniacki who has been playing professionally for 14 years now is set to retire in the last of this month. She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis shortly after winning at Melbourne Park in 2018.
