Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Receives Rs 14.54 Crore Donations In Just 11 Days

Mumbai: According to officials, one of Shirdi’s renowned Sai Baba temple got a donation of 14.54 crores in the period of 11 days before the start of Christmas and the end of New Year.

Chandra Shekhar Kadam, Vice President of Sri Saibaba Trust told PTI that the devotees donated Rs 8.05 crores in donation boxes kept in the temple premises between December 22, 2018, and January 1, 2019, along with the country as well as from abroad.

Shirdi is a city of Maharashtra state in western India. This revered spiritual leader is known as Sai Baba’s former house and is known as a major pilgrimage site. In order to honor their heritage, devotees gather at Sai Baba temple complex daily.

Whereas through online donations/debit/credits cards, demand drafts the temple trust has nearly received Rs 6 crore he added. Apart from this, devotees of 19 countries including USA, UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and China donated foreign currencies of 30.63 lakhs.

In addition to these donations, the temple trust earned 3.62 crores through the online viewing facility provided bypass passes and temple management issued to visitors.

The beautiful temple in the center of Shirdi’s was built in 1922 after four years of Sai Baba’s death, this temple was owned by a millionaire of Nagpur, owned and privately owned by a wealthy Gopalrao, who was a devotee of Sai Baba. Today it is owned and run by the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust.

Thereis now a new railway station in Shirdi, named “Sagar Shirdi”, which started in March 2009. As of 2011, there are trains from Chennai, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Mysore and other cities/states that hold Shirdi railway station as their terminal stop.
