Silent Protest By Jet Airways Staffs Outside Mumbai Interational Airport

Mumbai: On Wednesday Jet Airways employees slated silent protest at Mumbai International Airport seeking government’s intervention to solve the crisis facing airline.

“We are carrying out a silent protest here to convey our message to the government please listen to us. We have people dependent on us. We have not got our salary for three to four months while some senior employees have not been paid for five months,” one of the staff told to reporters.

The airline was facing financial crisis since February 2019. On March 25, 2019, the founder and sole president of the airline, Naresh Goyal, resigned due to airline financial position.

The airline was forced to stop international flights on April 12, 2019, because they had less than five operational fleets, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation was required. On April 17, 2019, due to the lenders rejecting 400 million (US $ 58 million) emergency funding, Jet Airways suspended all flight operations.

“We request the government and any other authorised organisation to help revive Jet Airways at the earliest. We want to become the best airlines not only in India but in the world. we need just little bit support to achieve this,” another employee said.
