Situation Akin To Social Emergency, States Have Suggested To Extend Lockdown: PM Modi

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the situation is similar to a “social emergency” due to coronovirus in the country and said that everyone should be vigilant during a meeting with floor leaders of political parties in Parliament through video calling.

Modi said, “The situation in the country is similar to a social emergency. The country is forced to make drastic decisions and to remain vigilant. Several state governments, district administrations and experts have asked for an extension of the phase of lockdown,” Modi said during the course of the meeting.

The Prime Minister also praised the efforts of the state governments working closely with the Center in the fight against the epidemic, and said that the country has “done positive and positive politics in concert with all sections to present a united front in this fight.”

He has also praised the “sense of belonging, discipline, dedication and commitment with which every citizen is involved in this endeavour, be it in the following social differences, public curfew or lockdown.”

The Prime Minister said that the government’s focus at this time was on saving the lives of the people and assured political leaders that this country is committed to overcoming the economic challenges that the country is facing due to COVID-19, Skip according to one.

Various political leaders appreciated the time-bound measures taken by the Center to stop the spread of COVID-19 and assured the Prime Minister that the entire country was with him.

The leaders also spoke about “the need to increase the health and morale of health workers, expedite testing facilities, assist small states and union territories, and meet the challenges of hunger and malnutrition. They also spoke about economic and other policy measures to boost the country’s capability in this battle against the pandemic.”

The Prime Minister took note of the suggestions given by the leaders and thanked them for the feedback.
