Sonia Gandhi Skips Oath Taking Ceremony Of Thackeray, But Pens A Letter Says India Facing Threat From BJP

Mumbai: Ahead of Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray’s oath-taking ceremony, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi penned a letter, saying she won’t be able to attend the ceremony.

Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray had met Sonia and former prime minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday evening to seek their “blessings”. Sonia Gandhi had penned a letter to uddhav Thackeray that she’ll not be able to attend the function today and she was also confident that the alliance between Sena, NCP, and Congress will be able to provide, “purposeful, responsible, responsive and transparent administration”.

“The Shiv Sena, NCP, and the Congress have come together under quite extraordinary circumstances at a time when the country faces unprecedented threats from the Bharatiya Janata Party… I am confident that all three parties will strive their utmost to implement that program in letter and spirit,” Sonia wrote in her letter to Uddhav.

She raised the issue of farmer distress and said that all three parties have agreed to a common program and “the people of Maharashtra expect the alliance to provide a cohesive, purposeful, responsible, responsive and transparent administration”.

“I wish you all the very best as you embark on new innings in your life,” she told Uddhav in the letter. Reports said that Thackeray had gone to extend a special invitation to the leaders for the swearing-in ceremony.

Uddhav Thackeray will take oath as the 29th  Chief Minister of Maharashtra at Shivaji Park in Mumbai in the presence of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and other dignitaries.
