Testing For COVID-19 Still Poor In Uttar Pradesh: Priyanka Gandhi

Mumbai: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said on Tuesday that the testing of COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh is still poor, stating that reports of five people after the death of the patient turned out to be positive for coronavirus.

Priyanka took to Twitter to write: “I wrote a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and requested to increase the testing. Reports of five people have come positive for coronavirus after the death of a patient in UP. The testing system is still poor. Make the testing system rapid and orderly. Maximum testing can only give us a correct picture.”

Priyanka Gandhi wrote a letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on 10 April, urging to increase the capacity of testing and treatment of coronaviruses in the state.

Priyanka had said in the letter that the threat of coronovirus is spread all over the country, including Uttar Pradesh, and there is a strong emphasis on tackling the disease and increasing medical facilities.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal today said that 1,211 new cases of coronavirus were reported in India in last 24 hours, which is the biggest single-day jump so far.

He added that 31 coronavirus deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 339.
