Uddhav Urges PM To Frame National Policy To Stop Gatherings Amid COVID-19

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to frame a national policy to stop social, political and religious gatherings amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Thackeray made this suggestion in a virtual meeting organized by the PM, during which he took stock of the situation of coronavirus.

Even as the government is battling the COVID-19 pandemic, crowding in public places remains a major challenge. The Chief Minister said that the Center should make a national-level policy to stop the crowd in the name of social, political and religious gatherings.

A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that he apprised the PM of the steps being taken in Maharashtra to fight the second wave of the pandemic and said a plan to counter a possible third wave was underway.
