‘Understand Pain Of Youth, They Are Disappointed And Desperate’: Priyanka Gandhi Amid Agnipath Protests

“I had written a letter to the Defense Minister on March 29, 2022, requesting him to pay attention to these demands of the youth and find a solution immediately. According to Priyanka Gandhi, the government needs to understand the pain of the youth preparing for recruitment in the army. She urged the central government to take an immediate decision to fill up the vacant posts in the army. Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, “Understand the pain of rural youth preparing for army recruitment. Recruitment did not come for three years. The youth of the race got blisters on their feet, they are disappointed and desperate. The youth are waiting for the Air Force recruitment results and appointments. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in a letter dated March 29, urged Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to immediately start recruitment to fill vacancies in the Army and give two years relaxation in age limit to the youth.

In a letter to the Defense Minister, he also said that there is a lot of frustration among the youth due to the delay in recruitment, results and appointments.

Priyanka added, “The examination for the recruitment of soldiers in the Air Force (January 2020) was held in November 2020 and its result also came in November 2020. Despite the completion of all the tests and the provisional selection list being out, its enrollment list was not been released yet. This list should be issued immediately.”

Protests have started in different parts of the country against the new recruitment scheme in the armed forces. In some places, protests turned violent as trains were set on fire.
