Was Good Productive Discussion, But S-400 Was Not A Part Of It, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale

Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump held productive bilateral meetings in the sidelines of G-20 Summit.

The agenda was on issues raising including trade, tensions with Iran and 5G technology.

Meantime, there was no discussion on S-400 missile deal said India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

“It was a very productive and open discussion, we will take things forward … There was little discussion on defense issues, S-400 was not discussed. We highlighted the potential of cooperation in this area, whose President Trump welcomed.” Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said at a press conference here on the occasion of the 14th G20 summit.

U.S. Secretary of State Mitchell Pompeo had said that both countries should be able to provide security for themselves. Meanwhile, aimed tensions between the US and Iran, on which Foreign Secretary said that, “On Iran, the primary focus was on how we ensure stability there, because instability affects us in many ways, not only in the matter of energy need, but in the context of our large overseas Indians in the Gulf, but also in terms of our large diaspora in Gulf, 8 million Indians in the Gulf and economic interests. On the other hand, PM Narendra Modi has also explored the opportunity in order to achieve the goals under his flagship program “Make in India” using 5G technology, Gokhale noted.

“At 5G, we were concerned about focusing on how we can take advantage of our capabilities in the technology of our market, our design, and software, and our desire is to make this technology a part of Make in India Make in India and the ability to achieve this technique. “

Apart from India, US, and Japan, other countries like the UK, European Union, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Russia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Republic of Korea, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are also participating in the Summit.

If reports are to be believed India will be hosting Summit by 2022.
