What Is The Cost Of Petrol And Diesel In Metros After Hike On 6th Straight Day?

Mumbai: Fuel prices surged to record high levels on Monday after the hike for the sixth straight day. Petrol price in Delhi increased by 35 paise to Rs 109.69 per liter after today’s hike, while diesel price went up to Rs 98.42 per liter, making it 35 paise costlier.

Petrol in Mumbai is selling at Rs 115.50 per liter, which is 35 paise more than Sunday’s price, while diesel is selling at Rs 106.62 per liter, which is 39 paise more than yesterday’s price.

Petrol, diesel prices vary from state to state due to Value Added Tax (VAT). Petrol and diesel prices in Delhi are the lowest among the four major cities.

In Chennai, a liter of petrol is being sold for Rs 106.35, 31 paise more than the price of Sunday. Meanwhile, the price of a liter of diesel increased by 34 paise to Rs 102.59.

Petrol in Kolkata costs Rs 110.15 per litre which is higher by 36 paise while diesel costs Rs 101.56 a litre, expensive by 37 paise.

Petrol and diesel prices are revised every day by oil marketing companies based on international crude oil prices and dollar-rupee exchange rate and the new prices are implemented at 6 am. Brent crude, which is representative of India’s crude basket, is hovering around $83.60 per barrel till 7:45 am. Brent crude prices have increased by 122% in the last one year, which is the main reason for the record fuel prices in India.
