With 303 Votes In Favour Triple Talaq Bill Passed In Lok Sabha

Mumbai: In a recent development, Triple Talaq bill was passed in Lok Sabha with most voting in its favour. Congress opposed to passed the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2019 with 303 votes in favour of the law.

A total of 82 MPs voted against Triple Talal Bill. Earlier, the Janata Dal (United) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs also had a walkout in protest against the bill making the immediate divorce a criminal.

On the other hand, it has been noticed that man political party leaders left the house in protest against the bill. Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) ally Janata Dal (United) opposed Triple Talal Bill and said that with the help of leaders of Muslim community, there is a need to create public awareness on this issue.

JD (U) MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh said that his party believes that Triple Talaq Bill will harm the society. “Bill will create a different feeling in society because no one wants to have differences between the relationship between the wife and the husband.”

Congress Kishanganj MP Mohammad Jawed opposed Triple Talal Bill and said that the government should bring “the law for different women of all communities” and not only Muslims.

“The bill that has been introduced is another way of putting Muslims in jail … I oppose this Bill and request the Minister to send this bill to the Standing Committee for review and all the communities Make laws for different women, not just Muslims,” Said in the Lok Sabha.

It is said that Triple Talaq Bill is a violation of Article 14 of the Constitution as it discriminates between women of Muslim women and other religions. “Jawedsaid,” Section 498 (A) of Indian Penal Code; Dowry prohibition; The law is already applicable to Muslims, therefore, there is no need to have an additional law to protect only Muslim women. ”

Meanwhile, the Parliament session has been extended till August 7, announced Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Lok Sabha on Thursday took up for consideration the contentious bill to ban and make the practice of instant triple talaq illegal, with up to three years in jail for the husband.
