Mumbai: A 33-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband at their Nalasopara home and passing it off as a suicide on Wednesday morning.
Sunil Kadam (36) was admitted to hospital with 11 stab wounds on the neck, abdomen, back and hands. His wife Pranali earlier told the hospital and Tiling police that he had stabbed himself to commit suicide. The reason, she said, was not known.
Police suspected her claim as the wounds did not look self-inflicted. Police questioned Pranali, who confessed to having stabbed her husband, using a kitchen knife, said inspector D, S Patil. Sunil later succumbed to injuries. She was arrested in the evening.
Kadam stayed with his parents, wife and two minor daughters. Pranali told police she stabbed her husband because of his extra-marital affair at his workplace.
The knife has been seized and Pranali, who will be produced in court on Thursday, has been sent to Boisar police lock-up.
