World Tour Finals : PV Sindhu Beats Ratchanok Intanon To Reach Finals

Mumbai : On Saturday, Indian badminton player PV Sindhu entered the final of the ongoing World Tour Finals after beating Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the women’s singles event. 

Sindhu ranked sixth in the world after defeating Thai world number eight by 21-16, 25-23 in the semi-final, which lasted 54 minutes. 

The first point was scored by Intanon when the game started off. Since Sindhu got hold of her game she discharged utter class making it 2-2 with a cross-court shot. PV Sindhu failed to reach a beautiful drop shot from Intanon which resulted in Thai making it 4-4 in the first game. 

The hard game again showed an unforced error from the world number six and score line resulted in 7- 7. However, pure invasion and three consecutive points, help Sindhu to take a 10-7 lead against her Thai counterpart. But a cross-court smashed by Intanon and a wrong-footed Sindhu, helped the world number eight in making the solid comeback 14-15 against the Indian.  Soon after, Sindhu with four successive points and an unforced error by Intanon, helped the Olympics silver-medalist to take the first game 21-16. 

At the start of the game India moved amazing on the court. However, she hit it too wide which benefitted her Thai opponent 4-2. But a brilliant smash from Sindhu increased her lead to 6-3. 

In the second round Sindhu gained three consecutive points. Wherein in all Sindhu made the second game all square 10-10. Intanon turned the tables after winning four consecutive points and now the Thai led the game by 16-15 against Sindhu. 

At the end, the game took a crucial turnover to Sindhu where she made it 20-20. But with a solid comeback, Intanon made it 22-22. While on the other hand, India earned 23-23 against her opponent. Sindhu made it 25-23 to enter the final.
