21-Yr-Old Kerala Woman Stabbed To Death By Stalker, 13-Yr-Old Sister Injured

Mumbai: A 21-year-old woman was stabbed to death by a stalker in Kerala’s Malappuram district on Thursday. The 23-year-old assailant, K Vineesh, also injured the victim’s 13-year-old sister, the police said.

The 23-year-old assailant K Vinesh distracted the victim’s father by setting fire to his shop on fire in Perinthalmanna before entering her house and attacking the woman when she was left alone with her 13-years old sister, police said, and added that he also stabbed the younger sister when she tried to rescue the victim.

Malappuram Superintendent of Police Sujit Das quoted local residents as saying that the accused was the victim’s senior in the school and used to chase her.

Last year, her father lodged a police complaint and the police let him off with a warning. Vineesh was also questioned once on charges of alleged drug abuse in the school and the victim’s relatives opposed her acquaintance, the police officer said. He is believed to have attacked her because she was disapproving of his romantic advances.

After the incident, the accused boarded the auto-rickshaw but seeing his blood-stained clothes, the driver got suspicious and took him to the nearest police station. Das said Vineesh is in police custody and further investigation is on in the matter.

The younger sister of the victim is now reported to be out of danger, the police officer said.
