3 CSK IPL Contingent Members Test COVID-19 +ve; None Of Them Players: Reports

Mumbai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan, the team’s bowling coach L Balaji and a bus cleaner from the CSK’s IPL 2021 contingent have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

However, all CSK players, who are currently in Delhi, have tested negative for coronavirus, according to reports.

At Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, CSK played their last match against Mumbai Indians (MI), in which they lost by 4 wickets. Five employees of the Delhi and the District Cricket Association (DDCA) have also tested positive for COVID-19. CSK is scheduled to take on Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday.

Notably, 12 members of the CSK staff, including two players Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar, tested positive for coronavirus before IPL 2020 which was played in the UAE. As a result, CSK had to delay its training camp.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had issued a statement confirming that two KKR players, Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrier, were had contracted the virus, and Monday’s match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had been rescheduled.

KKR had played a match against Delhi Capitals (DC) recently. The BCCI said its medical team is also keeping a close eye on players and staff who would have got into casual contacts with the two KKR players.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are ranked second in the IPL 2021 points table with 10 points.
