50% Crowd Allowed At Narendra Modi Stadium For India-Eng T20Is

Mumbai: Before the start of the T20 series, the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) has decided to use only 50 per cent of the capacity of the Narendra Modi Stadium for the five T20Is to be played between India and England from Friday to March 20.

All COVID-19 related precautions have been taken and all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are being followed.

“We are going to use only 50% seating capacity at the Narendra Modi Stadium for all T20 International matches due here due to COVID-19 epidemic. 50 per cent tickets will be issued on online and offline ticketing platforms,” Dhanraj Nathwani, Vice President, Gujarat Cricket Association.

Keeping in view the safety of the spectators, the entire stadium has been cleaned. All COVID-19 guidelines are being followed strictly and Special Task Force Committees have been formed to implement and follow all necessary security measures.

India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma is likely to join KL Rahul as the opener, while Pant will don wicket-keeping gloves and is likely to bat at number 5 in the batting order.

Meanwhile, on the eve of the match (Thursday), India captain Virat Kohli said that Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul would later make their team debut in T20 cricket.

However, Kohli has not made comment about India playing 11 for the first T20 International.

It will be interesting to see if Mumbai batsman Suryakumar Yadav gets to play his first match in tomorrow’s match as Kohli has improved the need for X-factor players in the T20 squad.
