Neil Wagner Jumps To Fifth Position At ICC Rankings

Mumbai: Neil Wagner has celebrated his 33rd birthday in the best possible way.

Best test figures in a match, the Black Caps seamer has soared six spots to a career-best fifth in the ICC test bowling rankings announced on Wednesday, Wagner’s birthday.

He nabbed 9-73 for the match and was a difference maker for the Black Caps winning over Bangladesh over an innings and 12 runs.

Boult followed by Wagner has taken seven wickets to reach the 7th position in the rankings.

Wagner is the top-ranked bowler from his country after achieving 801 points becoming the third bowler to reach this feat.

He is on 801 points, with only Trent Boult (825) and ICC Cricket Hall of Famer Sir Richard Hadlee (909) have done better in terms of rating points. Tim Southee is another to get close to the mark, having reached 799 points in June 2014.

The Australian bowler Pat Cummins topped the list, Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin, the Indian spinners are the only bowlers at the top ten rankings with sixth and tenth position respectively.

Captain Kane Williamson remains the highest ranked Kiwi batsman in the second position in the list led by India captain Virat Kohli.

Cheteshwar Pujara follows at the third position in the rankings.
