A Murderer Absconding From 6-Years Arrested By Bihar Police

Mumbai: Raees Manjhi was all of 19 when he allegedly got involved in a murder in 2013 in West Delhi’s Mundka. In a panic, he fled even as his accomplices were arrested.

Manjhi, who was declared an absconder by a Delhi court, initially kept moving from one state to another. He had also changed his appearance with a new identity.

Two years ago, he went back to his own state, Bihar. But he didn’t go back to his home in Gaya village. He shifted to the jungle area near the village and built a hut for himself. Later he visited his family occasionally. The villagers informed about his visits to the police after finding out that there was a reward of Rs 25,000 for giving information about Manjhi.

The policeman had to crawl their way to his hut as Manjhi could see anyone approaching him from a distance of around 1 kilometre. Manjhi spotted the cops and tried to run but the police managed to catch him after a Chase of 2 kilometres. Manjhi was brought to Delhi and handed over to the local police. A Chargesheet will be filed against him.

Manjhi told police that on the intervening night of October 13-14, an argument took place between him and his friend Rajesh. Both were drunk and the argument soon turned into a nasty fight. In a rage, Manjhi and his relatives first assaulted Rajesh and later slit his throat.
