BJP MP Says Fadnavis Sent ₹40,000 Cr To Centre In 80-Hr Term As CM: He denies

Mumbai: In a statement that sparked a fresh controversy in Maharashtra, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anant Kumar Hegde revealed why Devendra Fadnavis was made the chief minister of the state for 80 hours despite the lack of a majority.

The BJP MP from Uttara Kannada (Karnataka) claimed that Fadnavis took an oath to halt misuse of Rs 40,000 crore of central funds in a hurry.

Claiming that the BJP staged a ‘drama’ to save money from misuse, Hegde said, “You all know that our man in Maharashtra became CM for 80 hours.” Then, Fadnavis resigned. Why did he do this drama? Do we not know that we do not have a majority and yet he has become CM. Everyone is asking this question.”

He said that the CM has access to about Rs 40,000 crore from the Center and if the Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena government comes to power, it will misuse the funds used for development. “Therefore it was decided that there should be a play. Fadnavis became CM and in 15 hours he returned Rs 40,000 crore to the centre.

Rejecting Hegde’s claims, former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that no such major policy decision has been taken by me by the CM. “All such allegations are false,” the former chief minister clarified.
