Bomb Found In Delhi’s Ghazipur Flower Market: Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana

Mumbai: Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana on Friday said that an improvised explosive device (IED) has been found in the Ghazipur flower market.

The bomb exploded and spread in the open field. The first scene from the market in East Delhi where the bomb was found showed a special team of NSG recovering the IED and carrying it for controlled detonation.

The agencies also shared a picture of a bag full of IEDs found at Ghazipur Flower Market in East Delhi.

“Based on the information received, an IED has been recovered,” Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said.

The development comes days before the Republic Day Parade on January 26.

“A case is being registered in the Delhi Police Special Cell under provisions of the Explosives Act,” a Delhi Police later said.

The IED was spotted by a passer-by who reported the matter to the fire department.

According to a report in news agency IANS, the Delhi Fire Department received a call at around 10.20 am about an unclaimed bag in the Ghazipur flower market. Immediately after the information, two fire tenders, the Bomb Disposal Squad and officials of Delhi Disaster Management Authority reached the spot.
